Style Star: Alexa Chung

From growing up in Hampshire, England, Alexa Chung is now one of the most watched fashion icons. But not only is she known for her impeccable style and enviable wardrobe, she also has her own new show, 24 Hour Catwalk, pens features for British Vogue, DJ's, and has designed a capsule collection of clothing and accessories for Madewell, which instantly blew out of stores. Oh, and she also has a Mulberry bag named in her honour!

The Style File:
Alexa always looks stunning in beautifully pulled together looks. Whether she's wowing the crowd on the red carpet with a tuxedo and red lip; or looking effortlessly cool on the street in skinny cords, silk button-down and a cross body Chanel bag, Alexa knows how to dress for every occasion. She has a unique ability to stay ahead of the trends, and adds her own effortlessly chic twist to any outfit. Whatever she wears, we want.

5 Mins with Alexa:
My apartment is so overstuffed with clothes. It looks like Hoarders. Back in London, I had what I called a 'terror room.' It was floor-to-floor with shipped boxes from the USA, still unpacked one year on, with clothes spilling out of them - basically a mattress of clothes up to my waist. My closet staples include the following: Burberry trench (classic and practical); striped Breton tops (stripes always look crisp); little white dresses (I pair them with boots to toughen them up); and anything school girl (I love schoolgirl style; it's relaxed but smart, boyish but girly). I would describe my style as understated. I don't like things to be too overthought or too sexy or too swampy. I like the silhouette of a cigarette pant with a Chelsea boot and a buttoned-up shirt, but I also love superfeminine dressing - looking like a cake or a Christmas tree! My style icons tend to be men: Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, the Beatles. But I also look at Marie-Antoinette as a style icon, for the more feminine side of me. I own a lot of Chanel bags. I only have one Alexa bag by Mulberry, but I make up for it with Chanel bags. When I first bought my apartment, they were like, 'Is there anything you want to insure? Any jewellery?'. And I just got all my Chanel bags insured. They mean a lot to me!

Thank you to Elle UK and Teen Vogue :)
